Street maintenance
Auckland Transport maintains and upgrades much of the city’s transport infrastructure, including roads, berms, footpaths, streetlights, signs and bus shelters.
How road works may impact you
Our work on roads and footpaths may affect you in different ways. We will do our best to minimise disruption, noise and dust.
Berm maintenance
The berm is the grass area between your home or business's boundary and the street. It can include both sides of the footpath.
Road sign maintenance
Auckland Transport maintains all road signs on the road network. This excludes motorways and state highways and signs to private or commercial locations.
Improving the unsealed road network
Auckland Transport (AT) has a programme to progressively improve the performance of its unsealed road network.
Tree and vegetation weed spraying
Vegetation maintenance on berms is a shared responsibility. Auckland Transport manages rural berms and Auckland Council manages urban berms.
Traffic light maintenance
Auckland Transport (AT) is responsible for the maintenance of traffic lights. Report traffic lights that are not working.
Street light maintenance
Street lights light up roads and accessways for traffic and pedestrian safety. Major urban roads are brightly lit, with less lighting on minor and rural roads.
Bus stop and shelter maintenance
To request a new bus shelter contact Auckland Transport (AT). Requests for repairing or cleaning of bus shelters can be made to AT.
