The following is a list of recently completed slip sites on Aotea, Great Barrier Island. Our thanks go to everyone in these communities for your patience and understanding as we made necessary repairs and restored safe connections.
- Blind Bay Road, Okupu (2 sites)
- Cape Barrier Road, Tryphena (2 sites)
- Medland Road, Medlands Beach
- Motairehe Road, Motairehe
- Puriri Bay Road, Tryphena (9 of 9 sites)
- Whangaparapara Road, Whangaparapara (3 sites)
Road status: open, single lane operating
7 March 2025
Slip repair work started on Monday 24 February 2025. The work is expected to continue for the next 5 weeks before the team move on to the other 2 sites on Aotea Road.
1 August 2024
Three slip sites on Aotea Road are awaiting exemption work from the Department of Conservation.
Subsoil drains through the slump by the Pinnacles seat (site RP8274) have been installed.
June 2024
Three slip sites on Aotea Road are awaiting final design.
Road status: open, single lane
18 December 2024
One slip site is left to be repaired. We expect to complete repairs in 2025.
