Project overview

A new urban arterial transport corridor that intersects with Fred Taylor Drive and connects to the remaining East-West connection at the intersection with the Redhills North-South Arterial Corridor. 

The project includes: 

  • The construction of a two-lane, 24m wide urban arterial transport corridor extending down Dunlop Road from Fred Taylor Drive in the east to the intersection with the Redhills East-West Arterial Corridor–Nixon Road Connection and the Redhills North-South Arterial Corridor (part of the NoRs RATN1 and RATN2C). Separated footpaths and cycle lanes will be provided on both sides of the corridor.  

  • Facilities for direct bus services and bus priority measures providing for ‘bus only’ through movements in the left-turn lanes.  

  • Widening of Fred Taylor Drive to accommodate four lanes for approximately 800m.  

  • New signalised intersection at the intersection of Dunlop Road and Fred Taylor Drive.  

  • Provision of stormwater infrastructure.  

  • Bulk earthworks.  

  • Removal and relocation of existing utilities.

Project status and anticipated construction timeframes

This project is confirmed and operative in the Auckland Unitary Plan. The designation number that can be used to identify this project is: 1483. 

There is currently no funding for detailed design or construction of this project. We anticipate the project will be delivered sometime within the next 15 years in line with Auckland Council's land release strategy.
