Finding the vending machines
There are 2 AT HOP vending machines at Auckland Airport:
- International terminal: inside the Transport Hub near bus stop A
- Domestic terminal: next to the AirportLink bus stop, just outside door 4, near the Air New Zealand arrivals area. Follow the orange signage.

You can also buy a HOP card online, at one of our Customer Service Centres or at AT HOP retailers throughout Auckland.
Paying for your HOP card
An AT HOP card from the vending machine costs $25 ($5 for the card plus $20 credit), which is more than enough to get to the city centre or for a full day’s travel.*
The following cards are accepted:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
- EFTPOS
The vending machine does not accept cash.
*If you plan to travel by ferry to Waiheke or Rakino Island, you will need to add more credit to your HOP card.
If the vending machine is not working
If your HOP card gets stuck in the machine or you’re having issues paying, you can request a refund by:
- calling our Customer Contact Centre on 0800 103 080
- visiting any of our Customer Service Centres. The nearest Customer Service Centre to the Airport is at Puhinui Station.
If you are unable to call our Customer Contact Centre, please talk to an AT bus driver.
