New and upgraded CRL stations

Waitematā Station
Waitematā Station.

Until the City Rail Link opens, Waitematā is the city centre's only train station. It's convenient for connecting to bus and ferry services from downtown.

Te Waihorotiu Station

Te Waihorotiu Station is a new station created as part of the City Rail Link. When it opens in 2026, it’s expected to be the country’s busiest train station.

Karanga-a-Hape Station

This station is being created as part of the City Rail Link. From here you’ll have access to Karangahape Road’s shopping, hospitality and entertainment.

Maungawhau Station

Maungawhau Station will be a major rail interchange for people travelling to and from the city centre on the Western Line.

Other projects connecting the city

Level Crossing Removal Programme

We're working with KiwiRail and NZ Transport Agency to remove dangerous and congested level crossings across Tāmaki Makaurau over the next 10 to 30 years.
