Overview

We’re proposing a morning clearway along Grand Drive to help ease delays at the Abbotts Way intersection.

Residents have told us that parked cars near the intersection make it harder to turn, and vehicles waiting to turn right often slow down others during the morning peak.

To help address this, we’re proposing a clearway from 7am to 9am, Monday to Friday, which would temporarily restrict five parking spaces. New clearway signs will be installed.

These changes will create more space for drivers to move through the intersection, reduce morning congestion, and make it easier and safer to turn out of Grand Drive.

Project benefits

Reduced congestion

Creating space for two lanes during the morning peak helps traffic move more smoothly through the Grand Drive and Abbotts Way intersection.

Safer turning movements

Removing parked cars during busy times makes it easier and safer to turn out of Grand Drive, especially at Abbotts Way.

More reliable morning trips

Smoother traffic flow helps reduce delays for residents, school traffic and people travelling through the area.

Project background

We’re responding to public concerns about morning congestion on Grand Drive near Abbotts Way.

Right-turning vehicles often block the lane during peak times, while parked cars make it difficult for drivers turning left.
