DrivingOverview
We are planning to improve safety at high‐risk bends across South Auckland. This includes both urban and rural roads.
We have identified multiple sites where low-cost solutions can improve safety. These improvements aim to reduce the risks associated with vehicles losing control, so drivers can safety navigate these high-risk locations.
Our solutions include:
- high friction surfacing on the approach to and through the bend to enhance the skid resistance of the road surface
- active warning signs (AWS) to encourage safe and appropriate speeds
- static signs, road markings, edge marker posts (EMP) and delineations to guide motorists more effectively
- trimming vegetation to improve visibility.
One or more of these solutions may be used at each site.
