Walking, driving, bus and cyclingOverview
We propose safer crossings by linking the southern footpath, adding a new crossing, and relocating bus shelters.
Proposed changes
- New footpath and kerbs to connect the existing footpath outside 49 Herd Road to 42 Herd Road on the opposite side of the street.
- New raised zebra crossing and traffic islands outside #42 Herd Road to make it safer and easier for people to cross the road.
- New tactile pavers at the crossing to help people who are vision‑impaired.
- Move the existing bus stops and add no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) to improve visibility for drivers and people crossing the road:
- bus stop 8969, located outside 42 Herd Road, will move slightly east.
- bus stop 8960, located near the Queenstown Road intersection, will move to outside 42 Herd Road, near the new crossing, to better meet pedestrian needs.
- To keep sightlines clear and improve safety, we will reallocate road space and remove around 33 parking spaces.
- Install new signs and markings to support these changes.
