Overview

We’re upgrading a section of Greenhithe Road between Tauhinu Road and Collins Park to make it stronger, safer and ready for future growth in Greenhithe as part of our Renewals Rehab Programme.

This upgrade is more than just a new road surface – it’s an investment in the future of Greenhithe.

Our work will make the road stronger, safer and better prepared for severe weather.

The upgrade will be completed in two phases. We’ll be improving stormwater drainage, rebuilding the road foundation and resurfacing the road.

The Renewals Rehab Programme is part of our ongoing investment to maintain and improve Auckland’s transport network, making roads safer, more reliable and helping to keep Auckland moving.

What we're doing:

  • Digging up and rebuilding the road.
  • Fixing and upgrading drainage.
  • Improving kerbs and channels.
  • Laying a strong concrete base.
  • Testing for quality and durability.

Why we're doing it:

  • Routine inspections showed the road is nearing the end of its serviceable life.
  • Upgrading the road now will improve safety and help prevent future issues.
  • The upgrade will help support future growth and increased traffic in the area.

Project benefits

Safer journeys for everyone

A smoother, more reliable road means fewer potholes and safer conditions for all road users – including drivers, cyclists, bus passengers, and people walking.

Better stormwater drainage

Upgraded drainage systems will help reduce surface flooding during heavy rain, protecting nearby homes, properties, and the road itself.

Longer-lasting road

By laying a strong concrete foundation beneath the surface, we’re building a road that’s expected to last for the next 20+ years with fewer repairs needed.
