When and how often does the 379 bus service run?

On weekdays, from 5:30am until 9pm.

• Every 30 minutes from 6:30am until 7:30am, and from 4:30pm until 9pm.
• Every 60 minutes at all other times.

On weekends and public holidays, every 60 minutes, from 6am until 9pm.

How long will buses stop at this bus stop?

Stopping to pick up and drop off passengers typically takes less than 30 seconds.

Buses may spend a short time waiting at this stop to stay on schedule. We don’t expect a bus to wait for more than 5 minutes, and the driver will be required to turn off the engine after 2 minutes and 59 
seconds.

Why are you proposing a bus stop outside 71 Stevenson Road?

The distance between the proposed stop at 13 Stella Drive and the proposed stop at 23 Stevenson Road is 1.1km. This is more than the recommended accessible stop distance for passengers, which is 400 metres.

We’re proposing a new stop outside number 71 Stevenson Road as it roughly sits halfway between the existing stops.

Installing a bus stop here would also provide convenient public transport access to the Ngahere Ki Uta Clarks Beach Recreation Reserve. 

This location also provides convenient access to toilet facilities that bus drivers and users can use. 

Why are there 2 pedestrian refuge crossings so close to each other? 

We’ve completed a pedestrian survey to understand where people are most likely to cross. The location of the proposed crossings are based on the survey results.

The crossing outside number 67 connects people to the reserve entrance.

The crossing outside number 77 gives people a safe place to cross where the footpath ends.

Has the impact on parking been considered?

Yes. The proposed pedestrian crossings and bus stop design keeps as many on-street parking spaces as possible, while making it easier and safer to reach the 379 bus and the reserve.

Broken yellow lines are used only where they're needed to keep the road safe. The design of the crossings have been optimised to reduce parking loss.

The proposal removes 16 parking spaces. We've reviewed parking demand on this road, and there is still plenty of on-street parking available for residents and visitors within walking distance. 

Which parts of the proposal may be refined further, and which parts are unlikely to change?

Parts of the design that may be further refined include:

• the location of the bus stop 
• the design of the bus stop.

Our engineering team will review suggested changes and may revise the design within good reason. We need to ensure changes won’t impact the safety of road users or bus network operations.

What is unlikely to change:

• whether the bus stop is required.
• whether the pedestrian crossings and footpath connections are required.

The location of the pedestrian crossings are also unlikely to change. 

While these elements of the design are unlikely to change, we remain open to hearing feedback from the community and the Franklin Local Board before we make the final decision to deliver the changes.

We launched the new 379 bus service on 19 April 2026.

The 379 bus service connects Clarks Beach with Waiau Pa, Kingseat, Te Hihi, Karaka and Papakura Station.

The 379 bus runs:

• On weekdays, from 5:30am until 9pm.
  • Every 30 minutes from 6:30am until 7:30am, and from 4:30pm until 9pm.
  • Every 60 minutes at all other times.
• On weekends and public holidays, every 60 minutes, from 6am until 9pm.
