Ōrewa Town Centre parking changes

We’re working with the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board and Destination Orewa Beach to improve parking in Orewa Town Centre. A review of parking shows that it’s very busy most of the time.

We want to make it easier for people to visit and get to local shops and businesses, helping the town centre to thrive.

Paid parking can improve parking availability for visitors and customers. It encourages people to only use a space for the time they need, encouraging turnover. It also makes it possible to park nearby for appointments that last longer than two hours.

Our options

We are looking for your feedback on two different options for paid parking in the town centre. Both options focus on the busiest areas.

Both options would apply from 8am to 6pm Monday to Sunday at $1 per hour. With the AT Park app, you only pay for the time you use.

• Option A: approximately 75 parking spaces around several of the locations where parking is in the highest demand. 
• Option B: approximately 58 parking spaces in Bakehouse Lane and Orewa Square.

Free parking with time limits would still be available in these areas. All paid parking areas also include 10 minutes of free parking, allowing customers to grab a coffee or pie, or do a quick drop off.
