New footpaths for First View Avenue, Cherrie Road and Wakelin Road in Beachlands

There is currently no footpath on either side of First View Avenue, Cherrie Road or Wakelin Road.

This means people walking in the area don't have a formal, dedicated path and must share the road with vehicles. Providing a footpath will give the community a safer and more comfortable route to walk.

To improve walking connections in Beachlands, we're proposing to:

• build a new footpath along the northern side of First View Avenue, from 2 First View Avenue to 2 Hawke Crescent
• build new footpaths along both sides of Cherrie Road, connecting First View Avenue to Second View Avenue
• build a new footpath along the eastern side of Wakelin Road, from the cul-de-sac to Earling Crescent
• add pram ramps at several locations to create easier, safer crossing points
• re-build some driveways to match the new footpath level, with surfaces reinstated on a like-for-like basis
• add broken yellow lines at 4 intersections to improve visibility for pedestrians and turning drivers.

The new broken yellow lines will mean the loss of 14 on-street parking spaces:

• 3 at First View Avenue
• 9 at Cherrie Road
• 2 at Wakelin Road.
