Overview

We’re upgrading the pontoon at Hobsonville Point Wharf. The upgrade will enable a wider range of ferries to berth, including new electric and electric-hybrid ferries.

What we're doing

We will:

  • extend the pontoon east by around six metres
  • remove 3 existing piles and install 2 new piles
  • future-proof the pontoon to enable charging equipment to be installed in future.

We will do some work at night to avoid disruption to ferry services. Piling can be noisy and will only be done during daytime.

Local iwi Te Kawerau ā Maki has contributed a stencil pattern to be displayed on the pontoon windows. It will be unveiled after the project is completed.
