We’ve had multiple requests and concerns about safety at Donegal Park Drive and Broadhurst Road intersection. Key issues raised include:
- drivers failing to give way on Broadhurst Road
- restricted visibility when exiting the side roads
- high vehicle speeds along Donegal Park Drive.
The changes in the proposal include:
- a new roundabout that larger vehicles can drive over if they need to
- moved and improved rain gardens to make space for new kerb ramps
- new pedestrian refuge islands with upgrades to the existing kerb ramps and tactile pavers to help people cross the road safely
- extended broken yellow lines and new white road markings to guide drivers.

Fewer crashes at this intersection
The roundabout is designed to respond to the 16 reported crashes between 2020 and 2024, including 4 that left people injured.
Safer and easier to drive through
Fifteen of the crashes involved crossing or turning movements. A roundabout will help slow vehicles, improve visibility and make driver movements more predictable.
Clearer and more predictable layout
The current ‘give way’ layout can lead to confusion or drivers taking risks. A roundabout provides a clearer, more consistent layout where all drivers follow the same give-way rule.
Stronger, long-term safety improvement
Earlier changes, like extra warning signs and road markings, have not meaningfully improved safety. A roundabout is a more substantial change designed to address the underlying crash issues.
