We’re proposing to:
- install an at-grade (level with the road) zebra crossing on Long Drive near Speight Road, with a central pedestrian island for safer crossing and slower traffic
- install kerb ramps on both sides of the crossing for easier access
- install tactile pavers to help guide people across the road safely
- upgrade the footpath on both sides of the crossing
- create a new indented pick-up and drop-off zone with 3 parking spaces
- install high-friction surfacing to slow vehicles down as they get near the crossing
- install new signs and road markings
- remove trees near the crossing to improve driver visibility
- paint broken yellow lines by the crossing and bend into Long Drive
- remove 9 parking spaces to improve safety and visibility.

Project benefits
Safer pedestrian crossing
There will be a safe crossing point for everyone, especially tamariki. Drivers will slow down as they near the crossing.
More visibility for drivers
It will be easier for drivers to see when they get near the crossing.
Better parking
There will be more parking for people to pick up and drop off their children during peak times.
