Walking, driving, bus and cyclingOverview
This location is outside Glen Taylor School, where many students cross West Tamaki Road each day.
To improve safety for everyone on West Tamaki Road, we want to install a raised pedestrian crossing outside 125 West Tamaki Road.
The crossing will have:
- long Swedish-style ramps that provide a gentler exit, minimising noise and vibration
- widened central islands to reduce crossing distance and narrow the lanes to encourage drivers to slow down
- modern pram ramps with yellow tactile pavers to highlight the crossing points especially for those with limited or no vision
- existing side islands removed as part of the redesign to make space for the new central refuge.
