Albany Bridge maintenance and repair works
We’re doing maintenance on Albany Bridge over Lucas Creek. The road will stay open. There will be small delays as work vehicles enter and exit the site.

The Albany Bridge works are split between lower and upper bridge repairs. The current stage focuses on the lower bridge. This work will help keep the bridge in good condition and support its long-term reliability.
The work includes:
- setting up the site
- putting up temporary scaffolding
- assessing the bridge structure
- maintenance
- removing the scaffolding and site equipment once work ends.
Bad weather or other issues may cause delays. If there is a big delay, we will update you.
We expect traffic to move as normal. A single-lane closure may be needed at times and you will be told in advance. Closures will be at night between 11pm and 5am. There may be small delays when trucks and work vehicles enter or leave the site. Traffic management will be in place to keep you safe.
We will give you more information on the upper bridge work after detailed assessments.

Latest updates
We expect Stage 2 repairs on Albany Bridge to start on 27 September 2026 and end in early December 2026. These dates may change due to weather or site conditions. We will let the community know if there are any major changes.
Work happening during Stage 2
During Stage 2, we will repair both sides of the bridge. This includes:
- removing old footpaths and beams
- installing new steel beams
- putting in new concrete footpath panels
- cleaning drains and kerbs
- repairing parts of the bridge
- painting the bridge.
Once the work is finished, we will remove all site equipment. If there are major delays, we will update the community.
Traffic and pedestrian impacts
This work will mostly be done at night. Night works will take place from 7pm to 5am. During this time, one lane on the bridge will be closed and traffic will be managed with stop/go traffic management. During the day, one footpath will be closed at a time. The footpath on the other side of the bridge will stay open. Traffic management staff will be on site to help keep everyone safe.
Timeline
Lower bridge works
We expect work to start at 11pm on 28 June 2026.
Work will usually take place Monday to Sunday, between 7am and 6pm.
We expect the lower bridge works to take about 10 working weeks, weather permitting.
