Overview

We’re renewing the footpath along Kaipara Coast Highway in Kaukapakapa from 8 June to 30 September 2026.

The current footpath is worn, uneven and need to be replaced. The work will take around 3 months to complete, built in sections.

We’ll do works near the school during the holidays and work at night outside the shops in Kaukapakapa. The works will include excavation, concrete pouring and curing concrete for a long-lasting footpath.

Where we're working

Works will happen in stages, between numbers 945 and 1105 Kaipara Coast Highway in Kaukapakapa.

What we're doing

During construction, we'll be:

  • improving footpaths, with wider areas and new driveway entries
  • improving safety and sightlines for people on foot while crossing the road
  • installing zebra crossings
  • realigning car parks to improve driver visibility and safety while reversing onto SH16.

What to expect during construction

  • the road will remain open with Stop/Go signs in place in both directions
  • sections of the footpath will be closed while the improvements are done
  • parking spaces outside Kaukapakapa shops could be temporarily closed while works are done nearby
  • Kaukapakapa shops will remain open throughout the works, with minimal disruptions to business frontage and access
  • business owners will be contacted and kept informed while the works take place.
