Before applying for a swing mooring, make sure you:

  • use a vessel that is 15m or less
  • wait for approval of mooring licence before booking a mooring service provider to lay a mooring
  • apply for a resource consent if the site is not in a mooring zone
  • understand that the Harbourmaster reserves right to allocate a site for all new mooring enquiries, but will try to meet your request
  • respond within 4 weeks to new site applications, or the application will be cancelled. 

The Harbourmaster's office does not accept applications over the phone.

Fill out the online application form.

Post your application

  1. Print and fill out a hard copy of the new mooring site application form (PDF, 133KB).
  2. Print a hard copy of the photo of the vessel that will occupy the mooring. Photo should be a clear side on photo showing the entire vessel and name.
  3. Post your application form and photo to:

    Harbourmaster's office
    Attention: Moorings team
    Auckland Transport
    Private Bag 92250
    Auckland 1142

After receiving your application, the Harbourmaster's office will contact you soon as possible.
