How to use these resources

Watch the video with your class so everyone knows what game they'll be playing.

Print out the associated session plan for the game. Take these instructions outside with you to follow as you play.

Ask a few senior students to help you run the game.

Start every bike session with this classroom routine – make sure students are ready and prepared to go out riding.

Bikes and equipment that’s stored correctly makes everyone’s lives easier – and lets students have more riding time.

A great warm-up exercise at the start of every session that senior students can easily lead.

Students follow the teachers’ instructions by stopping, slowing down or riding.

Students ride around quickly passing the ‘hot chip’ between them by communicating with each other.

Students compete to see who can get the furthest while balancing on the pedals (coasting).

In teams, students ride to their team ‘colour zone’ when the whistle blows.

Students learn shared path behaviours and looking ahead by riding the track in reverse.

Teachers and students create an obstacle course to build balance, control, problem solving and manoeuvring skills.
