What it is

Traffic congestion, illegal and unsafe parking around the school are frustrating and growing issues for many schools, especially in the morning and afternoon peak times. Not only that, but illegal parking puts students at risk.

Parking enforcement officers can be allocated to visit your school randomly during the term to encourage good driver and parking behaviour, and where necessary issue infringement fines.

Schools are required to notify their parent and whānau community if they are participating in this initiative.

Aim

This initiative aims to support a safer environment for students, staff, parents and whānau traveling to and from school and raise awareness with parents and whānau of why it is so important to park safely and legally.

Parking enforcement officers work with the school to make our roads safer, one drop-off or pick-up at a time.

Available resources

You can:

  • request 'Safety at the School Gate' flyers to be delivered to your school
  • download a PDF of the flyer and print it yourself
