Project overview

We are delivering improvements for people who travel by foot, bike, or bus within the inner-west suburbs of Point Chevalier, Westmere, and Grey Lynn.

These projects are being delivered separately and in consultation with residents and businesses.

Protected cycleways, separated from traffic, are a key feature of each project. We're also delivering new pedestrian crossings and road safety improvements.

The routes expand Auckland’s growing cycleway network, connecting at Point Chevalier with the Northwestern Cycleway and at the city-end with Karangahape Road Cycleway and the city centre cycle network.

Grey Lynn and Westmere improvements

Inner West Cycling Connections is a project designed to close key gaps in the cycling network across Westmere and Grey Lynn. It will deliver safe cycle and walking facilities that attract and cater for all ages and abilities.

The project routes have been confirmed by identifying key gaps in the network.

We now want to engage with community members and representatives to refine existing designs and ensure the proposed improvements are practical, safe, and meet the needs of all road users, including cyclists and pedestrians.

Feedback gathered through these workshops will directly inform the development of each project stage. We will then share it for wider public engagement towards the end of 2026.
