Rosedale Bus Station Rosedale Bus Station

Project status: Detailed design
Project zone: North

Project update

We met with the Upper Harbour Local Board in June 2025 to share our construction plans.

We will begin building the new Rosedale Bus Station in early to mid-2026. The station will be on the Northern Busway between Albany and Constellation Stations.

Project details

Auckland Transport’s (AT’s) new bus station will connect more people and businesses with the popular Northern Busway. The project will deliver better public transport and walking and cycling options to and from Rosedale.

There are about 5,200 people working within walking distance of the new station. We expect it to be a reliable travel option for more than 4,000 people every day.

Funding for the new station comes from Auckland Council and Waka Kotahi’s Public Transport Infrastructure funding programme.

This project was originally part of Waka Kotahi NZTA’s Northern Corridor Improvements (NCI) project via the NCI Alliance. The NCI upgraded SH1, SH18, the Constellation Bus Station and Northern Busway extension to Albany stations.

Since 2023, the Rosedale Bus Station project is being delivered as a standalone project. It is no longer part of the NCI Alliance.

The changes we’re making in early 2026

This construction phase includes:

  • building the new Rosedale Bus Station
  • completing retaining walls
  • making temporary road changes on Rosedale Road to support the new bus station and finish off work left from the earlier project.

Project benefits

Better transport options

It will be easier to go by bus between Albany, Rosedale, and Constellation Bus stations.

Improved traffic flow

More people will travel by bus, so there will be fewer cars on the road.

Better access

It will be a modern, safe and accessible station for all users, including people with mobility needs.

Supporting growth

It meets the transport needs of the growing Rosedale area.

Better connections

It will be easier for people to get to work, schools and universities. There will be less need for transfers, making bus journeys faster and more reliable.
