Strike action scheduled for next week involving drivers for NZ Bus has been withdrawn by First Union and Tramways Union.

However, drivers will meet on Tuesday (24 April) to ratify the settlement to the dispute. This meeting means NZ Bus services will be cancelled after morning peak. Services on Tuesday will be disrupted between 9:30am and 2:30pm, some services immediately before or after this could also be affected.

Bus services run by other operators are not affected and train and ferry services will run as usual on Tuesday.

Online payment options

Online payment can be made by credit or debit card or linking a bank account using Account2Account. For more information on Account2Account payment option visit the DPS payment express website.

*Account2Account is currently only available for customers of these banks: ANZ, ASB, BNZ, KiwiBank, TSB, Westpac.

How to top up your card online

  1. Login to top up your card online if you have an MyAT account and your card is registered.
  2. Click on the "Top up this card" button if you want to top up your default card or click "View all cards" to pick a card to top up.
  3. Enter the amount you want to top up.
  4. Confirm your payment details and change if needed.
  5. Select purchase.

How long before it's active on your card or shows in your online account

If you top up your card online before 10pm on any day, in most cases, that top up will be ready for you to use the next day when you tag on, otherwise it may take up to 72 hours.

Top up online and then tag on within 60 days

If you top up online and do not to tag on at an AT HOP reader or electronic gate at a train station or ferry terminal within 60 days of an online top up, this top up will expire and the payment will be reversed to the credit or debit card you used to top up. If this happens we will send you an email to let you know we’ve done the reversal.

AT HOP card expiry

In all other circumstances your total balance will be valid for up to six years from the date of your most recent transaction.

Please note that your AT HOP card, and any value loaded on it, will expire if the card is not used, no refund is requested, the card is cancelled, or no HOP money or monthly pass value is loaded onto it for a continuous period of six years. When your card expires, any value remaining on it will be forfeited and becomes the property of Auckland Transport. If this happens, you may contact us and we will transfer any HOP Money or the HOP Money equivalent of the product price at the time of purchase of any inactivated products to another AT HOP card purchased by you.
