We plan to make it safer for children and families to get to Shelly Park Primary School.
This is in response to community concerns about the lack of crossing facilities on Sunnyview Avenue.
Design update
After listening to community feedback about parking and accessibility, we have reviewed and updated the original design for the new pedestrian crossing outside Shelly Park Primary School.
The revised plan aims to better balance safety with the needs of the local community.
What’s Changing?
Original design impact:
- The initial plan proposed the removal of five kerbside parking spaces to improve visibility and pedestrian safety.
Updated adjustments include:
- school bus stop extension: the bus stop will be extended by approximately 5 metres (by using one of the 5 kerbside parks)
- parking adjustment: one of the five kerbside parking spaces will now be available for general use outside of school bus operating hours, instead of being a full-time no-parking zone
- signage: time-restricted parking signage will be installed to clearly indicate when the space can be used
This adjustment allows one additional parking space to be available for general use outside of school bus operating hours, instead of being a full-time no-parking zone.
The following features from the original plan have not been changed:
- a new road-level zebra crossing on Sunnyview Avenue
- pram crossings and improved street lighting on both sides of the crossing.
Before construction begins, we will contact residents directly affected by the works.
