FREE child weekend fares

With a registered AT HOP card, children aged 13 to 15 years (inclusive) travel free of charge on AT timetabled buses, trains and ferries* on weekends and on public holidays.

Children under 5 travel free any time when accompanied by another passenger, and children under 13 travel for free any time with a registered AT HOP card. 

*Excludes Waiheke and Rakino ferry sevices.

Includes the following weekend ferry services: Bayswater, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Devonport, Half Moon Bay and Hobsonville Point.

How to apply

Grab your kids an AT HOP card today and register each card with their date of birth. With a child concession loaded you’re good to go! Just tag on and off buses, trains and ferries as you would normally but there won’t be any charge.

Setting up a child discount concession is easy, simply:

1. Buy an AT HOP card for each of your children 13 to 15 years of age (inclusive).
2. Create a MyAT account.
3. Register your child’s AT HOP card.
4. Start your adventure.

Please note: A child concession will be applied automatically when you register your child’s AT HOP card with the correct date of birth. It may take overnight after registration for the concession to be applied.
