Māngere bus changes
From 2 November 2025, there will be new bus routes and bus stops. The routes will be more frequent and better connected.
On this page
We're changing bus services in Māngere. These changes will provide better connections to:
- Middlemore Hospital
- train stations
- the airport industrial area.
They will also make it easier to make local trips using buses.
These new bus services need some new bus stops. This webpage will give you more information about these new bus stops and give you the chance to give your feedback on them.
These changes are funded by Auckland’s Climate Action Transport Targeted Rate (CATTR).
Why we are making these changes
Whether people choose to drive, walk, cycle, bus, train or ferry, Auckland Transport is making trips quicker, easier and safer.
This will enable what matters most to Aucklanders – a convenient, well-connected, accessible transport system.
Transport choices will meet the needs of Aucklanders. They can live their lives and enjoy our region now and into the future as we grow.
To achieve the vision, we need:
- great public transport
- an efficient and sustainable transport network
- safe and seamless journeys for everyone.
There will be more trains when City Rail Link opens. These bus services will allow more people to get to more places more often.
The changes
We will replace Route 309X with more Route 309 trips. The new Route 311 will connect to trains in Ōtāhuhu.
The new Route 311 is between Māngere Bridge and Ōtāhuhu Station through Mahunga Drive. It runs from 5:15am to 11:45pm every 15 to 30 minutes. It connects Mahunga Drive with Māngere Bridge and Ōtāhuhu.
The new route layout for Route 326 connects Māngere with Middlemore. It will loop around Gray Avenue and sections of Portage Road where there aren’t any buses now. These streets will need new bus stops and pedestrian crossings. It will no longer travel on Māngere Road between Ōtāhuhu College and Ōtāhuhu town centre and train station but there are other options available nearby. It will now run until midnight.
We are making services more frequent on weekends and evenings on routes 31, 32, 33 and 325.
In April 2026, Route 324 will be extended from Māngere town centre to the airport industrial area. For the first time, buses will be travelling on:
- Westney Road
- Timberly Road
- Verissimo Drive
- Te Kapua Drive
- Wallace Road
- sections of Landing Drive.
The existing Route 324 route through Seaside Park will be replaced with a new Route 327 beginning and ending at Ōtāhuhu Station. If you are travelling between Seaside Park and Māngere you will need to transfer at Ōtāhuhu.
Timetable improvements
Existing bus services will run more often to make them easier to use.
Routes 31, 32 and 325 will run every 30 minutes in the evening until their last trip. They will start a little earlier and finish about 30 minutes later all week. The Sunday timetable will now be the same as the Saturday timetable.
Route 309 gets an extra morning trip towards the city centre and five afternoon and evening trips from the city centre.
Route 313 gets some timetable changes for better connections with trains.
Route 326 will now run until midnight.
In April 2026, Route 33 will run every 15 minutes after 7pm and every 15 to 20 minutes before 7am.
Changes to N10 night buses
We’re simplifying and improving late night Friday and Saturday bus services.
We will replace the current N10 with a new extended version of Route 30 from the city centre. This will provide a simpler, more frequent bus service. Trips leaving the city centre at 1am, 2am and 3am on Friday and Saturday nights will follow the same route as the N10 all the way to Ōtara.
New bus stops
We need to build new bus stops on:
- Mahunga Drive (Favona)
- Gray Avenue (Māngere East)
- Portage Road (Māngere East)
- Wallace Road (Māngere Bridge)
- Verissimo Drive (Māngere)
- Kirkbride Road (Māngere)
- Timberly Road (Māngere)
- Westney Road (Māngere).
We are consulting with the public on the exact locations of these new bus stops. Residents near the proposed bus stops will get more information and the opportunity to give feedback. For information on these new bus stops and the chance to have your say, go to our consultation page, New bus stops in Māngere.
