- separate protected on-road cycleway between Lambie Drive and Sharkey Street
- short sections of shared path.
Lambie Drive
- a signalised crossing for pedestrians and cyclists across Lambie Drive connecting Hayman Park and the Manukau Supacentre.
Clendon Avenue
- refreshing existing traffic calming measures
- tightening the corners of the Freyberg Avenue intersection to slow vehicle speeds
- “no stopping at all times” lines at the Freyberg Avenue intersection.
Cambridge Terrace

The proposed changes for Kerr's Road are no longer going ahead.
Latest updates
We are installing a signalised crossing on Lambie Drive in Manukau to provide a safe way for pedestrians and cyclists to cross between Hayman Park and the Manukau Supa Centa.
Work will take place between 9 February and 11 March from 7am to 7pm with some possible nightworks.
These works are part of the Manukau Cycling Project (Phase 1) within the Active Modes programme at Auckland Transport.
Wet weather could mean a delayed start. If the delay is significant, we will notify you.
Where
Between opposite numbers 51 and 3/55 Lambie Drive.
When
9 February to 11 March 2026, from 7am to 7pm, with some possible night works.
How it may impact you
Works will create noise and vibration. We’ll do our best to keep noise levels down.
How travel is affected
Lanes on Lambie Drive will be reduced.
Alternative bus stops will be in place as Stop 6906 and 6919 will be closed.
Use the AT Mobile app to receive notifications about changes to routes and stops near you.
Pedestrian access will be affected as sections of the footpath will be closed. Alternative access will be provided around the worksite on the back berm.
Traffic controllers will be on site to assist drivers and pedestrians around the work site.
Please follow all signs, light signals and traffic directions.
Timeline
Discussions with community stakeholders
We worked with Māngere East and Manukau partners, stakeholders, and community representatives to understand the barriers to cycling. We discussed how we can target our investment to address these.
We developed a proposed cycling network and set of supporting activities based on the priorities raised by our community partners.
Public engagement and consultation
We invited public engagement on the proposed cycling network for each area. This included development of concept cycle route designs, resulting in an 8-year programme of cycle improvements.
Seeking funding to deliver the work
We finalised the business case and sought funding to deliver the cycling improvements.
Ongoing design and engagement
We completed further design work and community engagement in each area.
Construction and delivery
Delivery of the proposed cycling network and roll-out of supporting activities.
