We want to let you know about the planned new signalised crossings at the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway and Harrison Road intersection in Mount Wellington.
This project was initiated in response to feedback from Summerset Retirement Village and nearby businesses.
Concerns were raised about pedestrian safety, particularly the lack of a formal pedestrian crossing, as well as the difficulty and safety risks with right turn movements from Harrison Road.
In response, we propose to construct 2 new signalised pedestrian crossings and one new unsignalised crossing, along with associated road layout changes, to improve safety and connectivity in the area.
These upgrades will make Harrison Road, Ellerslie-Panmure Highway and McDonald Crescent safer for everyone and:
- provide a controlled and designated crossing point for pedestrians
- create a safer environment
- improve accessibility for vehicles using Harrison Road, especially when making a right-turn manoeuvre onto Ellerslie-Panmure Highway
- improve the connections between local streets, businesses, and industrial services
- help to make the area more reachable and connected.
