Overview

Thanks to funding from the Waitematā Local Board Transport Capital Fund, we are planning to install 2 new crossings on Emily Place and Shortland Street, and we’d like to know your thoughts on our plans.

The design of these crossings aligns with, and has been shaped by, the wider council Emily Place Improvements Project to ensure an integrated and cohesive outcome.

The plan also responds to community feedback and prioritises:

  • pedestrian safety
  • accessibility
  • lower vehicle speeds in the area.

A lot of people already cross at these locations, particularly during busy periods.

Formal crossings will make it easier and safer to get across the road and reduce the need for people to cross outside designated crossing points, while also helping traffic through the area.
