Late 2026

Overview

Parts of the footpath on Ladies Mile are narrow and uneven, making it difficult to use. In several places pedestrians are pushed onto the grass or roadway. Upgrading this section will create a safer, more accessible route and improve connections to Ellerslie town centre and the train station.

Some work will occur on private driveways and property. This work is fully covered by Auckland Transport (AT). Construction updates will be shared before work begins.

Project background

Parts of the footpath on Ladies Mile are narrow and uneven and in some places people are pushed onto the grass or roadway.

From October 2026, we will:

  • widen and level the footpath between 179 Ladies Mile and Morrin Street
  • reconstruct driveways to match the new footpath level
  • make small adjustments to some gates
  • relocate one bench seat near 173 Ladies Mile.

These upgrades will make walking safer and easier, creating a more walkable neighbourhood. Upgrades will also improve connections to shops, public transport and local destinations.
