Auckland Transport (AT) is responsible for maintaining wharves used for public transport, such as ferry terminals, and for the development, maintenance and operation of commercial wharf infrastructure in the Auckland area.

Most ferry departure points around Auckland offer free parking for ferry users.

Let us know if you notice any maintenance problems, and if possible please provide the following details, so that we can act quickly:

  • What is the location of the wharf?
  • What is the problem? eg.
    • Wharf is slippery.
    • Broken planks.
    • Berthing infringement.
    • Damage to the wharf.
    • Leading lights damaged/not working.
  • Has an accident occurred or could it be potentially dangerous?

  • Downtown Ferry Terminal.
  • Devonport Ferry Terminal.
  • Birkenhead Ferry Terminal.
  • Hobsonville Point Ferry Terminal.
  • Beach Haven Ferry Terminal.
  • Stanley Bay Ferry Terminal.
  • Half Moon Bay Ferry Terminal.
  • Sandspit Wharf.
  • Northcote Point wharf (closed for repairs).

Waiheke Island

  • Kennedy Point Wharf.
  • Orapiu Wharf.
  • Matiatia Ferry Terminal & wharf.
  • Use of Matiatia wharf
    • You must not leave your vessel unattended at any of the wharves at any time.
    • All commercial vessels require an Auckland Transport Licence.
    • Recreational vessels should only use this wharf for loading and unloading of passengers and provisions.
    • A vessel must be moved away from the wharf if instructed by a Wharfinger or an Auckland Transport representative.
    • Maximum berthing time at this wharf is 30 minutes.
    • If­ your ­vessel ­is ­berthed­ for­ more ­than 30­ minutes ­you ­will ­incur­ a­ layover­ berthage­ fee.

Great Barrier Island

Rakino Island

AT also operates ferry services to the following private marinas:

Other island wharves in the Hauraki Gulf are operated by the Department of Conservation.
