Why join AT

During our 18-month programme, you’ll be offered both stability and support. You’ll work on building your craft within your home team and home leader and under the guidance of a mentor.

You’ll also get the opportunity to work across the business, gaining new skills and delivering real projects and change during 3 6-monthly rotations.

Once the 18-month programme finishes, you will be seamlessly transitioned into permanent positions within AT, from one of your rotations, continuing your journey in the AT whānau.

Our recruitment process

  • 12 August - Applications open.
  • 1 September - Applications close.
  • 1 to 14 September – We will invite you to do a video interview if shortlisted.
  • 16 to 30 September – We will invite you for an in-person interview in our office in Auckland CBD.
  • 1 to 10 October - Offers will go out to successful candidates for a start in Mid-February 2025.

How to apply

Please apply for your chosen opportunity on the AT careers website by 5pm on 1 September. You’ll need to include a cover letter which answers the following:

  • why you would like to work for Auckland Transport
  • your interest and passion for your major/degree
  • how the skills you developed in and outside of university would help you when working at AT.

After you apply

If you’re shortlisted, you’ll be invited to complete a video interview between 1 and 14 of September.

If successful at this stage, you will be invited to attend an in-person interview with the hiring team. This will be at AT’s head office at 20 Viaduct Harbour Avenue.
