DrivingOverview
The road rules say drivers must park parallel to the left side of the road unless there are signs or road marking allowing another type of parking.
In the indented bay outside 191 Arthur Street, many drivers park on an angle. Because this area is not officially marked for angle parking, drivers are legally required to park parallel. This has led to some people getting infringement notices.
To address this, we plan to:
- paint white angle parking lines in the bay outside 191 Arthur Street
- paint a small section of broken yellow lines on the west corner of the kerb.
The planned changes will provide one more on-street parking space.
They aim to formalise the area as angle parking. It will be legal and there will be clearer parking guidance for everyone. This will also stop anyone getting an infringement notice.
