Fareshare sign-up guide
You can apply for Fareshare if your employer is enrolled in our Fareshare programme and has sent you the invitation to sign up. This guide will help you apply.
On this page
If your employer has invited you to join their Fareshare subsidy programme, they will give you instructions to sign up. Use those instructions along with this page to complete your sign-up and answer common questions.
You cannot apply for Fareshare without an invitation from your employer.
We hope this subsidy makes it easier for you to choose public transport whenever you can.
How to apply for Fareshare
What you'll need
- a MyAT account - this can be your personal account, it does not need to be a work account
- an AT HOP card registered to "Your profile" on MyAT. If your HOP card is registered under a different profile, you will need a new HOP card
- the latest version of the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone
- access to your work email inbox
- access to your email inbox linked to your MyAT account
- two links from your employer:
- verify your employment status with Credibil
- apply for Fareshare through MyAT.
Tip: the application process is easier if you use both your computer and your phone.

Sign-up instructions step one
This step checks that you work for the business offering the Fareshare subsidy.
Using the sign-up instructions sent by your employer, click the link in step one. This will take you to the Credibil website. Follow the prompts all the way through until you have clicked the 'Add' button.
Sign-up instructions step two
This step allows you to pick which HOP card you want to apply Fareshare to.
Using the sign-up instructions provided by your employer, click the link in step two. This will take you to MyAT. Follow the prompts all the way through until you have clicked the 'Apply' button.
If you have multiple HOP cards, make sure you choose the right one and remember which one has the Fareshare subsidy.
Important:
- Fareshare cannot be used at the same time as other concessions
- you can only have one concession per card
- Fareshare will override any existing concession on your card.
What happens next
You'll get an email to confirm your application has been sent. Your discount will take up to 5 business days to activate. In the meantime, you'll pay full adult fares when you use your HOP card.
We'll email you when Fareshare is ready to activate on your card.
How to activate Fareshare
Tag on at the HOP reader or electronic gate on any bus, train or ferry to activate Fareshare.
If you do not tag on within 60 days, the subsidy will expire and your card will revert to adult fares. If this happens, contact us and we can reactivate it.
If you're not planning on travelling during the 60-day period, you can activate Fareshare by tagging on and tagging off at the same location within 20 minutes. This will activate the subsidy on your card without charging you for a trip.
Important things to know
Find out your Fareshare discount
You can find your Fareshare discount rate in the sign-up instructions from your employer, and in MyAT under ‘Products’.
When your discount applies
Your Fareshare subsidy will be valid on the days chosen by your employer – either Monday to Friday or 7 days a week.
You can use Fareshare on all Auckland Transport buses, trains and ferries, except Waiheke Island and Rakino Island ferry services.
Fareshare does not apply to monthly passes.
If you forget to tag off, your Fareshare discount will not apply for that trip.
Expiry
You can enjoy your Fareshare subsidy as long as:
- you continue working for your Fareshare-enrolled employer
- they continue to offer this benefit.
If you leave the organisation, your employer will let AT know. Fareshare will be removed from your HOP card. If you no longer want Fareshare on your HOP card, you can ask your employer to remove it.
If your card is lost, stolen, or damaged
You can cancel the card then transfer its balance to another card in the same AT HOP profile. Balance transfers include concessions and monthly ferry passes.
You can only transfer to another card in the same profile. This means if you get a new card, you must register it to the same profile as the old card.
Find out how to cancel a card and transfer the balance.
If you’re eligible for multiple concessions
Fareshare cannot be used at the same time as any other AT concession or discounted fare.
You can only have one concession per card. Fareshare will override any existing concession on your card.
If you’re eligible for other concessions, like Community Connect, we recommend having a separate HOP card for each.
Fareshare does not apply to monthly passes.
