Key information

KiwiRail teams will improve drainage and complete track work between Avondale and Morningside stations on the Western Line.

Some works will be completed during weekdays. Train services will continue to run but at a 20-minute frequency.

Weekday evening closures mean that the last services on the Western Line will be replaced by buses. Timetables are available on the Planned Rail Closures page.

Platform changes

From Monday 11 March to Thursday 28 March, all trains at Mount Albert Station will use Platform 1.

There will be a full network closure over the Easter long weekend, Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April 2024.

From Tuesday 2 April to Sunday 28 April, all trains will use Platform 2.

Signage at the station will advise you of which platform is available for use.

Travelling from Mount Albert Station

If you’re travelling from Mount Albert Station, there are several ways you can get around.

During the day, trains will run at a reduced, 20-minute frequency.

To help customers get where they need to be, an additional rail bus service (RBWN) will run on weekday mornings, stopping at all stations between New Lynn and Newmarket. To find out where to catch this bus, see the map below.

If you’re continuing your journey into the city centre, you can change to a Western or Southern Line train at Newmarket.

In the evenings and on weekends when trains will not be running, RBW rail replacement buses will be available.

These alternatives are for the most commonly made journeys. They use frequent services and include no more than one transfer.
