Fareshare allows employers to subsidise public transport for employees travelling for work on buses, trains and ferries.

Fareshare can also help with business and sustainability goals. It's a valuable employee benefit that does not cost fringe benefit tax (FBT).

How Fareshare works

The employer:

  • chooses to subsidise by 25%, 50% or 75%
  • sets weekdays-only or 7-days
  • sends invitation to employees to sign up.

The employee:

  • signs up with their work email address and their AT HOP Card
  • uses their AT HOP Card as normal, and the discount is automatically applied to their fare.

The subsidy applies to bus, train and ferry (except Waiheke ferry). It cannot be used with any other concession or monthly pass.

The monthly invoice shows each employee’s total spend in that month.

When the employee leaves the organisation, the employer deregisters staff from Fareshare.
