SkyCity will welcome 2026 with its iconic countdown, fireworks display and other festivities. Travel to the event using our bus, train and ferry services.

Plan your bus journey
Buses that normally run late-night services on Fridays and Saturdays will run between midnight to 3am. In addition, 26 extra trips will be added to the schedule.
On 1 January routes will follow Sunday timetables, while on 2 January routes will follow a Saturday timetable with additional late-night services running after midnight.

Children aged 5–15 travel free on weekends with a registered AT HOP card, and children under 5 travel free when with a paying passenger. T's & C's apply.

The nearest train station to SkyCity is Waitematā Station, which is approximately a 15-minute walk.

Full Network Closure
From 27 December 2025, rail network closures will be in place. On 31 December, rail replacement buses will be running additional late-night services. The last service for each bus leaving the City Centre is:

Rail Bus East (RBE) - 1:10am, departing from Stop 7005 - Customs Street West/Te Komititanga.

Rail Bus West (RBW) - 1:15am, departing from Stop 8210 - New North Road/Kingsland Station.

Rail Bus South (RBS) - 1:15am, departing from Stop 7005 - Customs Street West/Te Komititanga.

Rail Bus Onehunga (RBO) - 12:45am, departing from Stop 7400 - Stop F Newmarket Station.

Plan your ferry journey
The Downtown Ferry Terminal is located near Waitematā Station.
Ferry services will vary from service to service; visit at.govt.nz/holidaytimetables for details.
Devonport ferry will run a late service on New Years Eve with the last sailing leaving Downtown on 1 January 2026 at 12:15 am, and the last sailing leaving Devonport at 12:30am.
Fullers360 Waiheke ferry will also run a late service, with the last sailing leaving Downtown at 12:15am and the last sailing leaving Waiheke at 1am. Island Direct services will run their normal timetable.

Plan your journey
To support a safe environment for all, there will be a number of road closures around Sky City and Auckland’s waterfront. Road closures will be in place from 10pm on 31 December 2025 until 1am on 1 January 2026.
For detailed information about which roads will be closed visit Road Closures in Auckland. Please know that members of the public who are parked within the road closure cordon, including in carpark buildings, will not be able to leave until after the closures have been lifted.
Plan ahead to ensure you can leave your car park space if you need to do so before 10pm.
