Back to Ngā Kaihoe

Ruby

Customer Experience Graduate

Ruby Sullivan

I was born in Auckland, growing up in the central area, it’s cool to be a part of a company that impacts so close to home!

My studies

I studied a Bachelor of Science Majoring in Human Nutrition and Minoring in Marketing at the University of Otago. That’s the thing about AT’s grad programme, they are open to people of many different degrees and backgrounds! No matter your specialisation, there’s always a spot for you.

My pathway

I applied for the graduate programme online after knowing previous graduates or people who worked / are working for AT. They complemented AT on what a positive culture the business has, and this made me want to join the awesome community within the organisation.

Why Auckland Transport

Auckland Transport does so much more than create bus routes, it’s the values AT lives by that made me want to be a part of the business. It is about creating safer, easier journeys for all Aucklanders.

My favourite part of Nga Kaihoe

My favourite part of the programme is being around like-minded individuals, who are all keen to make the most out of the programme. We all encourage each other to take all the opportunities we can grab, and it’s such a good way to create strong relationships with those you work with.

My opportunities

I was brought into AT as a Customer Experience Graduate but have been able to do many placements in their Culture and Transformation division (HR), which has allowed me to broaden my knowledge and skills. As grads, we are also given the opportunity to go through a “Personal Mastery” course and work with mentors on our goals for the future.

My favourite AT value

Auahatanga: Better, Bolder, together. AT wants to challenge their employees to create change and a better Auckland for future generations. We are bold in our initiatives and using agile working fundamentals, we constantly work together as different cross-functional teams.

My advice for graduates to Ngā Kaihoe

Make the most of the connections you’re going to make. AT is a huge organisation, with so many avenues you won’t yet know about. Get talking and create those relationships to better your future career.
