As part of the Downtown programme, we’re transforming the city centre and waterfront into an awesome, people-friendly environment for all to enjoy. To speed up progress and allow works to finish earlier, we’re closing the eastbound lane of Quay Street from Lower Hobson Street to Queens Wharf until December 2020.
If you regularly travel east on Quay Street, consider taking Customs Street instead. If you’re travelling east and don’t need to go through the city centre, the motorway will be your best option..

One of the key projects in this transformational work is the City Rail Link. While being redeveloped into an exciting, modern train station as part of the project, Mt Eden station will close from 11 July 2020 until 2024.
To make sure you are not stuck, a new, frequent 64 bus route will provide a better way for those in Mt Eden to get to Kingsland and Newmarket from 5 July 2020. This service will be free during construction so you don't need to tag on with your AT HOP card.

With so many projects underway in central Auckland, why not try taking the bus, train or ferry? Trains run every 10 minutes during peak, more and more bus lanes are being added across the region, and it’s smooth sailing for our ferry services.
