Good News! Bus service improvements are coming Good News! Bus service improvements are coming

From Sunday 21 July, the 195, 942 and 995 bus services will run more often, and two new bus services, the 888 and 999 will start running.

New timetables can be downloaded from the Timetables page.

Use AT’s Journey Planner or the AT Mobile app to plan your journey.

195 - New Lynn, Green Bay, Blockhouse Bay and the City Centre

From Sunday 21 July, the 195 bus service will run every 30 minutes in the evening, until the last trip, seven days a week.

This service improvement is funded by Auckland Council’s Climate Action Transport Targeted Rate.

888 – Fairview Heights, Gills Road and Albany Station

From Sunday 21 July, the 888 bus service will connect Fairview Heights, Gills Road and Albany Station in a one-way anticlockwise loop. Buses will run every 30 – 40 minutes, from 6am until 7:30pm, seven days a week.

At Albany Station you can change buses to reach more destinations, including the Albany shopping centre, Browns Bay, Northern Busway stations and the City Centre.

The 888 is funded by Auckland Council’s Climate Action Transport Targeted Rate.

The 888 bus service was originally proposed as part of the North New Network (as the N74). Public consultation on the then proposed North New Network took place in June and July 2015. Download the Consultation Summary and Decisions Report

AT confirms these roads are suitable for buses. However, due to the narrow, winding nature of the route, it isn’t possible for buses to safely run in both directions at the same time; buses will run in the anticlockwise direction only.

You’ll need an AT HOP card loaded with enough credit to pay your fare. Tap your AT HOP card on the reader when you board the bus, and again at the end of your trip. All of AT’s usual concessions are accepted, including Child and SuperGold.

942 – Beach Haven, Northcote, Akoranga Station and Takapuna

From Sunday 21 July, the 942 will become the 94, and buses will run more often.

Between Verrans Corner and Takapuna, from 7am until 7pm, buses will run every 15 minutes, seven days a week. (Buses will run earlier than 7am and later than 7pm, just less often than every 15 minutes.)

This service improvement is funded by Auckland Council’s Climate Action Transport Targeted Rate.

Rangatira Road and Birkdale Road will still be served by a one-way clockwise loop every 30 minutes. We’re not making any changes to the route.

No buses will display the 942 route number from Sunday 21 July.

995 – Warkworth and Hibiscus Coast Station

From Monday 22 July, the 995 will run every 30 minutes on weekdays.

Buses will continue to run every hour on weekends and public holidays.

This service improvement is funded by Auckland Council’s Climate Action Transport Targeted Rate.

999 - Warkworth

From Sunday 21 July, Warkworth will be served by a new local bus service – the 999.

The 999 will run in a one-way loop from Warkworth town centre to Mahurangi College, Woodcocks Road, Warkworth Show Grounds, Warkworth Community Transport Hub and back to the town centre. Buses will run every 30 minutes from 6am until 7:30pm, seven days a week.

At Warkworth town centre you can change to the 996 for Snells Beach and Algies Bay, and to the 997 for Matakana, Point Wells and Omaha.

At the Transport Hub you can change to the 998 for Wellsford, and the 995 for Hibiscus Coast Station. At Hibiscus Coast Station you can change buses to reach more destinations, including Silverdale, Ōrewa, Whangaparāoa Peninsula, North Shore and City Centre.

The 999 service is funded by the Rodney Local Board’s Transport Targeted Rate.

You’ll need an AT HOP card loaded with enough credit to pay your fare. Tap your AT HOP card on the reader when you board the bus, and again at the end of your trip. There are two AT HOP Retailers in Warkworth – the Warkworth Library, and Jaks Kwik Mart on Glenmore Drive.

Auckland is divided into 14 Fare Zones. Public transport fares are based on the number of Fare Zones you travel through. You can change between AT buses, trains and ferries and pay one fare for your entire journey with your AT HOP card. For example:

  • You can use the 999 bus in combination with other AT bus services within the Warkworth Fare Zone (specifically the 996, 997 and 998 buses). As long as there are no more than 30 minutes between trips and you complete your journey within four hours, you will be charged a one-zone fare. The adult AT HOP card one-zone fare is currently $2.60.
  • If you use the 999 in combination with the 995, you will be charged a two-zone fare (as long as there are no more than 30 minutes between trips and you complete your journey within four hours). This is because Warkworth is in the ‘Warkworth’ Fare Zone, while Hibiscus Coast Station is in the ‘Hibiscus Coast’ Fare Zone. The adult AT HOP card two-zone fare is currently $4.45.

All of AT’s usual concessions are accepted, including Child and SuperGold. Warkworth Library staff can load eligible concessions onto AT HOP cards.
