Matariki Weekend Matariki Weekend

Over Matariki weekend 28 June – 30 June, the train network will be closed, and buses will replace all trains.

A range of work is being undertaken across Auckland’s rail network by both Link Alliance on behalf of City Rail Link Limited (CLR Ltd) and KiwiRail.

This includes a major signals system integration connecting the City Rail Link signalling system with the systems at Morningside, Newmarket, Quay Park, Waitematā (Britomart) and Penrose.

KiwiRail, CRL Ltd and Auckland Transport are working together to deliver a better-connected network with improved access and connections, easier journeys and more reliable train services.

Key benefits:

  • A better-connected rail network and improved access across Auckland. Customers will be able to travel from Onehunga to Kingsland without changing trains.
  • Double the number of people within 30 minutes of New Zealand’s biggest employment hub.
  • An attractive alternative to travelling by car, which means less congestion on Auckland’s roads.
  • A modern public transport system in line with the world’s greatest cities.
  • Better connections to other modes of transport.

While we work to deliver the CRL and a range of other essential upgrades, unfortunately there will be disruptions. We know that disruption is frustrating for customers, and rail replacement options will be available when services are not running.
