The Initiative of the Year Business award winner of 2020 has started an electric revolution.

A rebrand in 2016 saw Mercury spark new ideas about energy and how we use it. Mercury run on 100% renewable energy and their mission is to get the rest of New Zealand doing the same. They're innovative, they're bold and they are committed to a more sustainable future.

Kissing Oil Goodbye is Mercury's ongoing mission and it's one they are closer to achieving with every move they make.

Since their rebrand in 2016, Mercury has campaigned to get Kiwis to switch to electric or hybrid vehicles. The Mercury team have always been ones to lead by example, converting 69% of their company vehicles into electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles in the last few years.

In 2018 they introduced a spokesperson, or rather spokes-car, to lead the electric vehicle revolution - Evie, the bright yellow converted 1957 Ford Fairlane.

Evie has made appearances at Big Boys Toys and the Go Green Expo where she has taken customers for a virtual tour. Expo’s have been a great way to get the word out about electric transport.

Another way Mercury has been encouraging sustainable transport is through their electric bike tours. Mercury runs many e-bikes tours every year, and 2020 is no different. Explore local Auckland galleries as you tour round on an e-bike during ARTWEEK for free. If art isn’t your thing, you can join the Xmas Lights tours during December, and if you're new to e-biking, you can book an escorted ride-to work e-bike experience.

Mercury's work towards a zero-emissions future is both inspiring and revolutionary. Please join us in congratulating Mercury for being the 2020 Initiative of the Year Business award winner.
