Reference number: FP1920-006
We advised you in December 2019 that these works were scheduled to be constructed by June 2021.
This project is part of the Footpath Programme and is dependent on the level of funding we receive from Auckland Council. This year funding has been reduced due to COVID-19. Planning and design will continue but currently many projects, including this project, cannot be delivered in the 2020/2021 financial year.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a construction date until we know more about the funding allocated to the Footpath Programme next financial year (July 2021 to June 2022). We update this page with more detail about this project in the latter half of this year.
We're making changes in your area
In October 2019, we proposed a new footpath along Great South Road between Abattoir Lane and Bell Avenue in Mt Wellington. Our proposal responded to a request from the local community to close the gap between existing footpaths.
Why the changes are needed
The proposed upgrade will improve walking connections along this section of Great South Road and to the existing bus stop nearby.
We have made minor changes to the design based on community feedback. Changes include widening the footpath at the bus stop to allow more space for people waiting for the bus.
Thank you to everyone who responded to our proposal and gave us the chance to better understand your community and concerns. A summary of your feedback and our responses to community questions is below.
We received positive feedback noting the proposal would create a safer connection for people using the footpath.
Thank you for your feedback and glad to hear the proposal will improve the safety for people walking in this area.
- Suggestion to extend the footpath at the bus stop to allow for more space for people waiting. Thank you for this suggestion, we will widen the footpath at the bus stop to provide enough space for the users. Please see the updated drawings.
