This proposal aims to address access and visibility issues in front of 14 Arklow Lane.

Feedback results

The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback

  • Suggestions to install broken yellow lines along the entire eastern edge of Arklow Lane and a request to extend the proposed broken yellow lines through to the back driveway of 611 Whangaparoa Road. On-street parking is a valuable community resource and its removal is recommended only in areas where there are existing safety concerns or access issues, as is the case for the broken yellow lines in this proposal. Installation of further broken yellow lines at this location would not provide significant safety or visibility benefits and would result in further loss of parking for residents and businesses.
  • Request to reapply paint to faded broken yellow lines along the western edge of Arklow Lane. This request will be carried out separately by the AT’s Maintenance Team.
  • Concern that on-street parking at this location is already limited and that the proposal will exacerbate existing parking issues. The proposed broken yellow lines will discourage motorists from parking at this location, where parked cars have been frequently causing accessibility issues.

Next steps

We expect to introduce this work between July 2018 and June 2019, subject to further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will notify all affected residents prior to construction work.
