Proposal status: updated 6 July 2018
Proposal reference: MCI1718-006
We are proposing to re-designate a portion of the footpath along Brigham Creek Road as a shared path for both pedestrians and cyclists.
This proposal also involves:
- The enlargement of the existing refuge island on Kauri Road to also accommodate cycling.
- Minor changes to signage and path/road markings.
Why the changes are needed
This proposal aims to provide cyclists with a safe alternative to cycling along Brigham Creek Road, allowing them to travel between Whenuapai and Hobsonville using a continuous facility.
These interim changes aim to better protect cyclists by allowing them to utilise the path until the surrounding rural roads are upgraded with suitable cycling and walking facilities.
The proposal received positive feedback and will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.
This work will happen by June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays.
Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
