We've proposed changes in your area

In October 2019, we proposed new broken yellow lines parking restrictions on Bendale Place in Papatoetoe. Our proposal responded to requests from local residents to address the issue of cars parking on both sides of the street blocking access for drivers.

Why the changes are needed

Removing parking at the intersection corners and along one side of Bendale Place is expected to improve access for residents and also emergency service vehicles.

Proposal outcome

The proposed changes will proceed to the next stage of detailed planning before being painted on the road. Thank you to everyone who responded to our proposal and gave us the chance to better understand your community and concerns. A summary of your feedback and our responses to community questions is below.

Feedback received

  • Request for additional broken yellow lines in front of number 6 Bendale Place to increase space at the turning bay entrance.
We have determined that the proposed broken yellow lines along the northern kerb of the turning bay entrance will allow adequate turning space while retaining kerbside parking spaces, which are often important to the local community. Therefore, we will not extend the proposed broken yellow lines.
  • Request to advise residents against long-term on-street parking.
On-street parking is available for use on a first-come, first-served basis, and we cannot advise residents on using unrestricted parking spaces.

Next steps

These works are planned for delivery in March 2020, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays. Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
