We’ve proposed changes in your area

In July 2018 we asked for community feedback on our proposal for a new pedestrian crossing on Station Road in Papatoetoe. The crossing includes pram ramps and a central refuge island, making it safer and easier for people to cross the road.

Why the changes are needed

This proposal aims to improve pedestrian safety as there are currently no crossing facilities along the length of Station Road and vehicles have been recorded travelling at high speeds.

Proposal outcome

This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Feedback received

Mention that this is an important road for those traveling to various locations across south Auckland; and this proposal would only work to increase congestion, and there are already sufficient pedestrian crossings in the area. There are limited crossing facilities in the area, and this makes crossing Station Road difficult. The new refuge provides better crossing choices for people on foot.

Next steps

This work is planned for November 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays.

Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
