Crown Lynn Place, New Lynn – Parking changes Crown Lynn Place, New Lynn – Parking changes

Proposal status: Feedback closed 17 February 2021

Reference number: RTV-342

Proposal outcome

In February 2021, we proposed changes to improve parking turnover and short-term parking availability in Crown Lynn Place, New Lynn. After reviewing all of the feedback we received, we have decided not to proceed with the proposed works. This is due to insufficient community support for the proposal. In particular, respondents identified concerns around the potential negative impact P120 parking restrictions may have upon local residences and businesses, especially those without access to off-street parking.

Community feedback

Thank you for helping us make better decisions for your neighbourhood, informed by your local knowledge. The majority of feedback we received did not support the proposed P120 (maximum 3 hour), parking restrictions along Crown Lynn Place.

Concerns were raised about where tenants from local residences (especially nearby apartment complexes) and staff from local business would park, as P120 parking restrictions would not allow for all-day or overnight parking of vehicles, causing an inconvenience to many. We also received suggestions to introduce resident parking permits, to impose P240 parking restrictions instead, suggestions for alternative restricted parking times and days, and concerns around discouraging the use of public transport in the area.

We're proposing improvements in your area

Aucklanders have told us that moving around our city safely and easily is important to them. A review of the New Lynn town centre has shown that parking is not being used to its full potential so we are proposing some improvements and would like your feedback.

The changes we are proposing:

  • Install P120 (two-hour) parking time restrictions along the length of Crown Lynn Place. The restrictions will be in place from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and affect 103 on-street parking spaces.

P120 parking restrictions help improve parking turnover and short-term availability of parking for nearby businesses, residents and visitors to the area.
