South Auckland – Rural intersection road markings and signage South Auckland – Rural intersection road markings and signage

Reference number: MIP1718-421

We're making changes in your area

We are improving road safety by installing white horizontal bar markings at selected rural crossroad intersections in South Auckland. In some cases, we will also install new signage to aid drivers approaching intersections and road bends.

Treatments will include:

  • White horizontal bar markings starting approximately 200 metres from an intersection.
  • Changes to speed signs and advanced curve/turn advisory signs.

For additional details regarding the intersections that most affect you, please refer to detailed drawings below.

Why the changes are needed

This is one component of our efforts to improve safety at rural crossroad intersections across the Auckland region. The markings are designed to raise awareness of an upcoming intersection and encourage drivers to reduce their speed and give-way to traffic on the main road.

Next steps

This work will happen between September 2018 and June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays.

Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
